FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is FUSE?
FUSE is Port City Community Church’s summer camp experience for 6th through 12th grade students (2018-2019 school year) with separate environments: one designed specifically for middle schoolers (July 12-16) and another geared toward engaging high school students (July 20-14). FUSE is an opportunity students to get away from the normal pace of life to experience a relationship with God in a whole new way. But it’s more than just 4 days straight of church…it’s a great way to have a blast with their peers, meet new friends, have amazing adventures, sing their voices hoarse, and walk away changed!
Who is it for?
FUSE is for current (2018-2019 school year) 6th through 12th grade students. Students/families do not have to attend Port City Community Church to participate in FUSE, either.
If you register for camp before April 14th, you’ll lock in our early price of just $385. You can lock that price in with just a $100 deposit. After April 14th, the price goes up to $425
Where is FUSE?
FUSE will be taking place at Crowder’s Ridge (https://crowdersridge.com) just outside of Charlotte, NC. There is nothing like getting away from the chaos of “normal” life and spending a few days in the woods, staying in cabins, doing things you don’t normally do (like rope swinging, jumping off of an 8-foot platform into a lake, and paint-balling) to put you in a place where God can really stir in your heart. We believe that the environment we’ll experience at Crowder’s Ridge will do all of that and more!
What are the activities at FUSE?
Crowder’s Ridge offers a bunch of AWESOME activities that are included in the price of FUSE – in other words, once we get to camp, your student will not need to pay for anything else! They have a lake with many water activities (like twin waterslides, a jump tower, tubes, and a rope swing), a downtown area with basketball, beach volleyball, gaga ball, and 9-square), paintball, and a bunch of other activities that the staff will be planning to engage your student, help them connect with others, and wear them out!
Is there a parent meeting and when?
We will be having mandatory parent meetings as we draw closer to FUSE. You will receive more information about these when it’s available (as long as your student is registered).
What is adult supervision like at FUSE?
We take a number of different adults to make FUSE successful and safe. Our current small group leaders (who have been trained and have background checks) will be the cabin leaders at about a 1:7 ratio. We also take at least 6 volunteers for “safety/security,” at least 3 medical volunteers, as well as 10+ staff members from Port City Community Church. Along with the staff at Crowder’s Ridge, we are able to provide a GREAT adult to student ratio!
My child has a food allergy. Will the camp be able to accommodate?
Absolutely! Click this link (http://allergies.crowdersridge.com) to fill out the camp’s online food allergy form. They can make accommodations, even gluten free ($12 fee for gf).
